upload start up config RFS600 v4
« on: October 07, 2013, 08:32:50 AM »
hi plse help
i will be undergoing a v4 - v5 upgrade of a customers site whom has some ap300's
i have successfully upgraded our test controller with 1 x ap300

I just want to make sure i have a correct process before tackling a live network.

I have downloaded our start up config from our controller to a tftp server and had factory reset it.

I wanted to upload the start up config to the controller once wiped just to make sure I could upload the previous config.

But I cant seem to make this work?

I cracked on any way and made up a basic config.

Could you plse tell me how to upload a start up config in wing 4 and wing 5

many thanks

Hi Russ and welcome to the forums!

As you know by now the configuration between v4 and v5 is not compatible. With that disclaimer you can just copy the configuration file via TFTP;

copy tftp:// running-config

copy tftp:// startup-config

I believe those work in v4 and v5 just like in IOS and NXOS.

Good Luck!

Thank you for the reply and the welcome.

How do I upload the config files? Via CLI?

I am upgrading the controllers from V4 to V5 tomorrow

I will back up all the config first, I have upgraded a live network once before and all of the configuration was carried accross.

I am just slightly worried purely as its a live network. I have told the customer to expect some down time but dont want it to end up being a nightmare day.

It only has legacy ap300's attached at the moment.

Any useful tips? advice? I have read most of the blogs on here so I think im covered

Did you see the auto config converter when you booted to v5 for the first time?
Well don't trust it! It does an ok job but you really need to manually compare you v4 config and your v5 config to make sure every function required is going to be present on your v5 system.
