switching to Zebra/Extreme FW?
« on: January 18, 2017, 09:50:47 AM »
Hi all, is it true the licensing becomes unlocked when you switch from Motorola/Brocade to Zebra/Extreme?

Are there any caveats I should be aware of? Is there a new release for the Extreme transition yet or is it still Zebra ?

thanks for your time!

What do you mean 'licensing becomes unlocked'?

The first release under Extreme has been v5.8.5 but there is nothing really different about it, just a maintenance release

I did a poor job phrasing this, I meant to say when you go from either Motorola or Brocade to the Zebra transition firmware or final firmware does the AP license become uncapped on the RFS controller at any point in the process?

I don't see why it would... you can still buy license packs from Extreme just like you could from Zebra.

I had heard a rumor that when you go from Motorola/Brocade/Extreme -> Zebra Conversion Image it becomes unlocked - however when you do the second upgrade from conversion to full Zebra it becomes locked again

Was just hoping to get some clarity on if that is truly the case
