Stupid question - EU vs. WW
« on: August 15, 2013, 08:02:18 AM »
Hi there
I made mistake and we ordered AP-650-66030-EU (instead WW) and now i see there is a problem with adoption (country mismatch). RFS and old APs are WW version and it was surprise for me that EU AP is denied to adopt because it expect EU country code (but exactly EU, any specific european country code is mismatched). Is there any way how to fix it or I need try to change them for WW version?

Make sure you're running at least Wing 5.4.
To my information the EU type AP's require that code because of ETSI.

Hi keezzz thanks for response
Thats will be little dificult because it is important location and there is WiNG 4.4.0.0 version in service. We want to upgrade it in future, but it will need more time. Do you think that upgrade controller to 5.4 will make these EU version APs adoptable by WW controller? I checked our 5.4 controllers and there is same range of country codes (if it require EU country code). Or it is some part of adoption procedure?

Hi Jakub,

keezzz is completely correct, those -EU SKUs will work only from 5.4.0 and above. This is due to ETSI regulatory rules (1.6.1). They will definetely work with any 5.4.x firmware or above, pls see my comments below.
Here is some simplified explaination of how it works:

Controller will be able to choose any Country code from the list (either EU or non-EU), on firmware 5.4.0 and up.

APs with -EU SKUs will adopt to any controller running any 5.x firmware, however AP's radios will not power on untill the controller will have firmware 5.4.0 or above + controller will have a country code setup to any EU country (in either RF-domain of via device override).

Will that help or you have any other questions?
