SNMP
« on: May 26, 2014, 02:43:22 PM »
I was looking to monitor the some of the sensor details from the a RFS6xxx using SNMP but have had no luck so far.

The information I am looking to extract is FAN speed, chassis temperature and the CPU utilization.
Does any one know the SNMP OID for these or where I can further information for this ?

For SNMP you need to make configurations in 3 places.

1/ Under the controller config set the SNMP server details and enable SNMP
2/ Under Event-Policy you need to define an action for each event. Each event has the option to choose syslog/SNMP/Email, there are many pages and many check boxes!
3/ Under Management-Policy you need to enable your SNMP version 2 or 3

Then you need to refer to your firmware .zip file. Inside, besides the .img file there is also a .mib file

Thank you for the reply.
The process that you mention is about setting up SNMP traps.
I wanted to know the SNMP OID so that my NMS can pull the data from the device.
I have looked through the MIB files and but cannot seem to find what I am looking for

Yes, there is a shortage of documentation regarding this.
If you do find anything, please do post it here.
