RFS6000 Guest network
« on: July 15, 2013, 10:59:19 AM »
Hi chaps,

We've inherited an RFS6000 controller from another project, Set it up fine for a std wireless but I've been asked if we can set it to have a guest network so they guest can only see the internet.

Any ideas ? helpful hints ?

Best,

Chris

You'll need to check the documentation mate, that is straightforward stuff and your question is too general.

Just do a web search for WiNG Configuration Guide and see where that leads you.

If you encounter a specific problem, we can try help you with that.

Thanks mate.

The Wing guide is V5 and most of the options don't exists in V4 which I think is why I'm having a problem..

Waiting for Motorola Partners to give me a price for maintenance contract for the RFS6000 so we can get the latest firmware.

Ah yes, if you are using v4 you should find a way to upgrade to v5.

You CAN do a separate guest network with v4 but v4 is no longer officially supported. If you want to this the easiest way is to have a separate vlan which has a dedicated default gateway giving access to Internet only.

When upgrading from v4 to v5, be aware that they are quite different and the device config cannot simply be moved across. Carefully read the release notes on the firmware and all will be explained in great detail.
