Motorola WiNG 5.6 Remote Site Traffic Management
« on: September 24, 2014, 04:08:29 PM »
So, I'm pretty new to Motorola's technology and wireless in general.

I'm starting a new project and am supposed to be finding out if it is possible to use an RFS7000 controller cluster at our companies' home site to manage authentication of a remote site of AP7131s yet allow a remote site Virtual Controller AP to handle outbound net traffic. Motorola's documentation seems to suggest it is possible but most of the documents seem to be sales or marketing overviews.

The main concern the company has is the loss of bandwidth directing all client net traffic back through the controller cluster if we can make this solution work for all our remote sites.

If anyone happens to be able to confirm it is doable, thank you very much for your time. If not then I suppose I'll start looking for alternative solutions.

Hi and welcome to the forum.
You cannot mix virtual controller APs with controllers. Or did you mean RF-Domain manager AP (can be a confusing distinction when you are new to WiNG)

Perhaps post your configs here along with what you have tried so far?

Hi,

The main concern the company has is the loss of bandwidth directing all client net traffic back through the controller cluster if we can make this solution work for all our remote sites.

If it is only related to the traffic, you can use local switching, WiNG5 please choose "local" under WLAN setting, WiNG 4 please choose "independent".
