Motorola RFS6000 Series RF Switch RFS-6010-1000-WR
« on: February 24, 2017, 08:47:35 AM »
I am looking to buy a Motorola RFS6000 Series RF Switch RFS-6010-1000-WR

From the pictures is shows that it has 8 ports in the front.

Is it compatible with AP300 access ports ?

The owner of this RFS6000 does not know how many licenses it has.

Does the model Motorola RFS6000 Series RF Switch RFS-6010-1000-WR say anywhere how many AP300 I can connect ?

Thansk !

Generally the RFS6000 has a maximum capacity of 48 AP300s if fully licensed. How many were you hoping to connect. Also, you'd have to be running firmware before x5.7.1.x as that's the point they dropped AP300 support. PM me the serial# if you like and I'll see if I can lookup the licenses on that RFS6000.

Like Gary said, AP300 is legacy and only supported in older firmware. Even with the older firmware you won't get equivalent capability of this device compared to a modern AP.

I'd suggest upgrading the APs.

The installation will involve 20 access ports AP300.
They are already installed, that's why I want to use them.
Ideally I could add AP650 in the future.

A RFS-7000 came up as well... Should I choose the RFS-7000 over the RFS-6000 ??

I usually get about 200 mobile users on a daily basis from 20 Access Ports...

Is the RFS-6000 a good upgrade from the WS-5100 I currently have, or should I go the extra mile and choose a RFS-7000 ?

Thanks !

The RFS6K and the 7K are either EOL or EOS, The AP650 is EOL, Have a look for AP7132 66000 or the AP7532

We have the 7K with a mixture of FAT AP's - 7131 / 7532 & some old AP650 - which are slowly being removed - If you need some 650's we have some to get rid of,

I was talking to a chap from extreme who said that the AP7532 is EOS, but will be support until 2020, and the reason that the AP 7532 ( and others that that the same chipset ) have been pulled somthing to do with either the EU or such like about the chipset / Radio. as a result alot of the Zebra/Moto/extreme AP's have been removed from sale, does not affect the ones that have been sold.

Also look to moving to WINg 5.5.8 - I believe if you make a request to Extreme they may release it to you if you had been deing with Zebra or have a support contract.

You can now get the NX which is just the software and sits on a VM ( 1000 Inc some liceneces not sure how many )

Hi Nicola,
Are you sure? I thought it was only the 3 digit ap's that are dependant i.e AP 650. /621  etc, not the 4 digit units I don't think the ap 5131 can run wing,  have you tried a factory default on one,
Just looked , don't think they do a version with D( dependant ) I think the last few for them was v2xxx
But have a look here

i am sure (unfortunately) this version is D dependant  exact part number is ap-5131-13000-D-WR
and in web admin panel is visible (and uneditable ) dependant mode.

i would only use them in an environement with mesh wlan so if this can be converted to NON DEPEDENT mode it will works for me.
or a licence file to activate rfs 6000 with 16 AP
