Hi,

your VC AP is not the rf-domain manager, thats why you see the error.
SSH into this AP, and ensure you have both of the below commands:

en
self
rf-domain-manager capable
rf-domain-manager priority 200
commit write

Good luck

sharing your config would really help.

also o/p from "show rf-domain-manager" and "show mint id" taken at the VC will give a start.

Hi
You are very helpfull (Thank you !!)

It seems something is wrong - I got this:
RF Domain default
 RF Domain Manager:
    ID: 1A.D9.37.64
    Priority: 1
    Has IP MiNT link
    Has wired MiNT links
 Device under query:
    Priority: 1
    Has IP MiNT links
    Has wired MiNT links

This unit is not A VC... just a simple AP
also this line is nowhere in the configuration so I do not understand what is the source for this ...
is there a command like:
No rf-domain controller or Disable / something ?
10x

So is it a virtual controller or is it not? Sorry, I am confused now.
Please share your running config, it would be easier for both of us.

Thanks.

Hi
Sorry I will ntry to explain
I logged into the virtual controller and executed
show rf-domain manager
and got that answer showing the id of one of the simple AP units as VC.
--------------------------
RF Domain default
 RF Domain Manager:
    ID: 1A.D9.37.64     <<< === just a Simple AP .......
    Priority: 1
    Has IP MiNT link
    Has wired MiNT links
 Device under query:
    Priority: 1
    Has IP MiNT links
    Has wired MiNT links
-------------------------------------
there is no indication to that AP in the running config
and nowhere was it configured to act as VC,
so is there a way to tell the Real VC to ignore that AP
as far as I know A V.C should also be the only RF-domain manager...
so where did that config came from ?
any ideas will help.
Thanks

this is a mint ID you are looking at, its not present in the config, so check 1) your own mint id with "show mint id" as I told you earlier and 2) if thats not your mint id, check whom it belongs to via "show mint neighbors detail".

in VC deployment, each AP will try to participate in rf domain manager election, no matter if its VC or not (until later versions, not 5.6.x for sure). So the AP which has lowest mint id wins the election, again no matter if its configured to be a VC or not. The output you show tells you that you have somewhere configured static rf-domain manager priority to be equal 1, which is not default.

Please provide your config. Its easy to fix if you show me how its configured...

I'm sorry to restarting that, but i have exactly the same problem with AP6522 after upgraded to 5.5.2
and i have no idea, what this error message means.

so i'm very new to this, so pls be patient...if i'm not understanding at first time...

Hi
how many Ap's do you have there ?
is one of the configured to be vitrual controller and RF domain manager ?

can you log into the virtual controller's "cli" via Putty and send these commands -
copy the reply ....

show mint id
show mint neighbors
show rf-domain-manager

also your config file will help alot.

Hey,

7 APs
yes, one is VC and i think its also RF Domain Manager ...

Mint ID: 4D.59.90.30

EGLinks-ap6522-599030>show mint neighbors
6 mint neighbors of 4D.59.90.30:
4D.58.40.E8 (EGRechts-ap6522-5840E8) at level 1, best adjacency vlan-1
4D.59.40.24 (1OGLinks-ap6522-594024) at level 1, best adjacency vlan-1
4D.59.49.04 (Keller-ap6522-594904) at level 1, best adjacency vlan-1
4D.59.94.E4 (2OGRechts-ap6522-5994E4) at level 1, best adjacency vlan-1
4D.5A.63.C8 (2OGLinks-ap6522-5A63C8) at level 1, best adjacency vlan-1
4D.5A.83.44 (1OGRechts-ap6522-5A8344) at level 1, best adjacency vlan-1
EGLinks-ap6522-599030>show rf-domain-manager
 RF Domain default
 RF Domain Manager:
    ID: 4D.58.40.E8
    Priority: 25
    Has no IP MiNT links
    Has wired MiNT links
 Device under query:
    Priority: 25
    Has no IP MiNT links
    Has wired MiNT links

ok... if i point that right... it tells me, that "EGRechts" is RF Domain Manager and not "EGLinks"?

edit: if i want to put it under "code-tag" it tells me i am not allowed to post links?

hi
it seams like EGLinks-ap6522-599030 unit thinks EGRechts is the RF-domain manager ,
the question is what is the configuration on EGRechts ??
do the same cli commands on that unit...

p.s
what do you mean by:
"edit: if i want to put it under "code-tag" it tells me i am not allowed to post links?"
= put what and where ?

i don't know whats the difference between domain manager and VC... shouldn't that be the same AP?

in fact, i want to manage all by  EGLinks-ap6522-599030...
