AP7131 dead?
« on: January 15, 2014, 03:46:16 PM »
I have a 7131 that powers up, will go through an initial sequence in which all the lights flash in order, then the red light just sits and blinks.  There is no output on console.  Is there a hardware reset on a 7131 or do I have a new paperweight?

Thanks!!!!

Hi,

I've seen this in the past and we ended up just RMAing the unit.

Kind regards,
Mike

Thanks, Mike.  We do not have a maintenance contract so the best I can hope for is to some day use this 7131 to balance out a table with a wobbly leg.  : )

Are you sure that you tried right console cable and right connection configuration (19200)? You should see something on console ... even if device is broken.

Yeah - had another right next to it and console worked fine.

Then other try - you can connect it to network and check on other APs if they see it via mint links:
show mint link
show mint neighbors
show mint mlcp history

also if it is possible (WiNG5) you can check it on switches with "show cdp neighbors detail" or "show lldp neighbors" and also on DHCP server if it tried obtain IP address.

If all failed then you can be sure that there is nothing more you can do with it (except your proposal of usage as weight balancer  8) )
