How we can setup a back-up link over radio using two AP7161 for a fiber link between 2 MSTP enabled swiches?

That's a good question... I haven't played with mesh networking at all so I really couldn't say myself.

Hopefully someone else can chime in and enlighten all of us!

Hi there,

first you need to consider your options:

1/ Legacy Single Hop Mesh. Will be running always, you cant have it as a backhaul. So not an option here.

2/ MeshConnex. There is a wireless backhaul feature. There is a parameter responding for monitoring the physical port connection, and as soon as ge1 port will be down, AP will become non-root and will try to establish mesh to a root AP. When both APs would have wired connectivity, they will be both roots and will not form a mesh link. At least this is my understanding of the topic.
There is a MeshConnex guide describing this.
I would need to take a look at it.

The biggest problem with Mesh - DFS channels. This is a disaster if you are at the airport area. Also they've made many fixes in the latest releases + they have finally reenabled UNII 1 band channels for indoor use for AP7161.

I just need BPDU packets over wireless. Moxa switch does all the work in MSTP and works well. Ge1 on Ap7161 is POE, is not possible to disconnect it
No matter what I choose, Legacy Single Hop Mesh, MeshConnex no BPDU packets over wireless  :'(. When 2 AP is connected over wireless i have look in network
BPDU filter and BPDU guard is off, firewall turned off, port fast is off, edge port is off. No multicast packets over wireless
I tried many, many settings ... but nothing
Motorola gave me WING 5.5 ... but nothing
I'm tired  >:(
