Mobile Monitoring
« on: November 09, 2012, 05:01:45 AM »
Hi Experts,

I had the idea to make Monitoring available for Mobile devices.
Most Monitoring Solutions work these days with a web based user interface wich you can be viewed on a Mobile device. In genral you will get a better overview with a Tabelt than a mobil phone so my main focus will be how to get the Monitoring to a Tablet.

In the past we had the problem that Tablets doesnīt had a sufficient screen resolution to view e.g.
Nagios with NagVis Maps. But that has changed the latest Tablets like the Nexus 10 with screen resolution of 2560 x 1600 can nearly bring the same overview than a 24" desktop Monitor.

For internal use over coporate WLAN it is very simple to deploy. If you want to have the monitoring also available over the public internet it becomes a littlebit more complex. There are baisicly 2 approaches:
View the web site of your monitoring through a SSL VPN Gateway, wich can be work out of the box with an Tablet or use the Cirtix Receiver to connect to a terminal Server wich can view the monitoring web page.
My favorite would be the SSL VPN Gateway approach.

Is anybody already doing something like this ?

Any suggestions are welcome.

Cheers
Itīs always the networks fault!
