Newbie with Avaya Support

Wanting to download the latest firmware from Avaya. Is it better to go through a VAR or Avaya directly? We have never had support or logins for our 5598/5520/5530/470 switches. I find the whole support page confusing at best. I got to the point of requesting a sign up for Avaya support, but have no idea what our Legacy Site ID or Sold to Id would be. Whats the best route for Avaya Support ?

Hi Alan.

Avaya doesn't sell directly to the public so you will need to contact a local VAR.

However, the VAR can sell you different support products. 

they can sell you direct Avaya support. Where you will be provided a sold-to number, customer ID and you will have the ability to download software directly from the avaya site.

Or they can sell you "Partner Assured" support.  That is where the VAR fetches the software for you.  Partner assured is less expensive.
