Avaya Identity Engines - Windows 7 Password Reset issues
« on: May 28, 2014, 09:06:34 AM »
Hi,

I am trying to implement Avaya IDE v8.0 for 802.1x authentication for wired users and am having the following problems, wondering if someone can help.

1) The Windows 7 Machines who are using 802.1x are not able to change their password using Ctrl+Alt+Del (Change Password option), I get an error saying the complexity or History requirements do not meet. But the password entered meets all our requirements set in AD.

2) If a user's password has been manually set in AD for example to 'test123' with the option checked to force user to change password at first login attempt. When the user tries to connect to an EAP enable port with the password of 'test123' he gets authentication failure log on IDE with a message ' Invalid Credentials - Password Change Required' but the user doesnt get the option presented where he can change his password.

I am pulling my hair out and have searched everywhere on the internet without any success.

Please help.

Thanks
Maj

Forgot to mention that Avaya IDE is built and is working and I am using PEAP-MSCHAPv2. But the above 2 problems is stopping me from rolling it out across the organization.

Hi majid0403,

I personally never saw that issue when we built our 802.1x solution, but if I did have a problem I couldn't work out, I would raise a call with Avaya?

CheerZ and good luck

Are the clients configured for user and computer authentication or just computer?
We had issues with thin clients on Wireless that didn't work with computer authentication if they hadn't made it into the Domain yet.
Auto-logon PC's needed both to behave properly.
Otherwise, it's been OK.
IDE with Trapeze Wireless, and planning on adding it to our Avaya 5XXX user ports.

Just for info.

Clients are configured for User and Computer authentication.

I had logged a support call with Avaya and they have come back to me saying that this feature is not supported in IDE and they have taken it on board to fix it in the future release.

Thanks,
Maj
