Extended ping on Cisco ASA
« on: September 11, 2019, 11:52:39 AM »
On a Cisco ASA ping works but ping -t does not:

firewall# ping <IP>
Type escape sequence to abort.
Sending 5, 100-byte ICMP Echos to <IP>, timeout is 2 seconds:
!!!!!
Success rate is 100 percent (5/5), round-trip min/avg/max = 1/8/10 ms

firewall# ping -t <IP>
firewall# ping -t <IP>
^
ERROR: % Invalid Hostname

What is going on?

Hi,

I believe there are two options you can use:

1) ping <IP address> repeat <number>

2) 'ping' then return and you are then in an extended ping wizard

CheerZ and good luck :)

Thank you, I didn't know that command was possible and it works great.  Thanks again.
