The holidays are nearing and I was considering purchasing a netbook for the loving wife. She's wildly into Facebook and social networking. A few of my co-workers have told me that I, personally, would never be happy with a netbook because if it's poor performance and the limitations of the Intel ATOM processor.

Anyone have any comments? And thoughts? What netbook are you using? Any recommendations?

Thanks!

I recently picked up the Acer AS1410 (Ruby Red) SU3200 and simply love it. Very small and light yet keyboard feels good. It has approximately 6 hours of battery life and Draft-N wireless. The dual core Intel Celeron performs much better than the Intel Atom based netbooks which can be painfully slow at times.

Have a look here for details, http://slickdeals.net/forums/showthread.php?t=1616113

Thanks for the feedback!

I've read a lot of great things about the SU2300. I had looked at the SU3500 originally. I think right now I'm going to probably wait until after Christmas before I do anything and see if the prices move down at all. Perhaps there might be some online deals between Christmas and New Year's day.

Cheers!

Over the holidays I picked up a Motorola Droid so I won't be needing (or can afford) a netbook.

If I look to get a computer for the kids to share around the house as they get older a netbook or laptop might be a good choice.

Happy Holidays!

The latest generation of SmartPhones are pretty amazing... I mean you can almost do everything you can with a full blown laptop. Obviously you can't write a 100 page book with a SmartPhone but you can easily check your email, get the news, surf the net, etc.
