Mobile wireless mouse

I finally broke down yesterday and picked up a Microsoft Wireless Mobile Mouse 4000. I have been using a USB wired mouse on my laptop for years although the buttons were starting to go south so I decided to make the jump to wireless. It's on the small size which has pros and cons.... pro: fits in my laptop bag with lots of space to spare, con: I'm a big guy with big hands and the small mouse can sometimes make things difficult. It was the only mouse at the store that had a thumb button. Having had a thumb button on my Logitech G5 and MX518 I'm never going back.

It seems the USB transceiver either went bad or fried itself somehow. When I inserted it into my laptop a few nights ago Windows XP started complaining that it was unable to recognize the USB device, etc. When I removed the USB transceiver it was very very HOT.

I liked the mouse so much I went out and picked up a replacement. Hopefully that issue was a fluke.

I'm surprised it failed that quickly! Was it still under warranty?

Otherwise, I've been using the Microsoft Laser Mouse 6000 series which they consider a "gaming mouse". While I do use it for gaming, the majority of the time I'm using it for day to day use at home and work.

Anyone using the Ergonomic Keyboards? I've been using the MS Natural Ergonomic Keyboard 4000 for a couple of years now. I'd give up both of those mice before I give up the keyboard. It's made such a difference for me. My wrists and arms don't hurt all the time anymore!

I've been using the Logitech G15 keyboard and G6 mouse at home and really like both.

I've had a lot of Microsoft InteliMouse Explorer 4.0 'buttons' start to go south this year, sometimes requiring two and three clicks before registering a single-click... I'm really suprised at the number of failures, but all things considered they have been in place for 5 - 6 years now.

I'm also in agreement with the thumb button... that's really why I chose the 4000 model since it was one of the few that had a thumb button.
