Firefox 4 Beta 1 Available
« on: July 06, 2010, 08:20:39 PM »
It's a really exciting time in web browser development... the next generation of Internet applications are almost here.

http://blog.mozilla.com/blog/2010/07/06/firefox-4-beta-1-tell-us-what-you-think/

I've installed the beta release on my Windows 7 64-bit desktop alongside my trusty Firefox 3.6.x installation.

I really like the look, let's see how it fairs after a few days of browsing.

Cheers!

I'm liking the stream-lined look but it's taking me a few minutes to find features that in the past took mere seconds.

I'm not sure that I care that it's a wee bit slower than say Chrome.

I like it so far... seems a bit slower than Firefox 3.6 on the initial connection (or drawing the page). I've seen it hang from time to time on the initial connection with a delay of around 4 or 5 seconds in length. On one occasion I thought I might have lost my Internet connection it hung up so long.

I'm guessing they've left some of the debug procedures in the code and those usually don't get removed until just before a GA release.

Thanks for the comment!

I'm really enjoying Firefox 4 Beta 4 with Sync. I usually move between two or three different devices throughout the day and Firefox Sync allows my to forget about sync'ing favorites, password lists, etc.

I'm curious what anyone else thinks?

Hi,
Firefox 4 rocks  ;D

On XP, Firefox 4 is significantly quicker and in my case all my add-ons were supported bar one, where a beta was available.  I personally also like the shift to a more minimalist feel.

I didn't realize that Firefox 4 RC2 was automatically upgraded to 4.0 until last night.

I'm really happy with Firefox, so many plug-ins it's crazy!

I still like to toy around with Chrome once and a while.. but Firefox is my bread and butter.
