Contivity 1700- could not get the login screen
« on: March 14, 2010, 03:56:57 PM »
Hello Everyone,

I am new to this forum and would like to seek some assistance here.

I have a contivity 1700 box which is working fine so far. there was a issue with one of the tunnels and we tried logging into the box from different locations using same credentials. after logging in the screen freezed and i was forced to closed the browser( GUI). When i again tried the Mangement IP to login i am not able to get the login screen at all.

Is there a way i check this issue. the box is in remote site. can you please help?

Regards,

Krish

Hi Krish and welcome to the forums.

The obvious question will be, "were you making any configuration changes when the browser hung?".

Additionally, is the VPN router still reachable? Can you ping the public interface (assuming you are allowing ICMP ping)? Is the VPN router still working properly in terms of user traffic?

I've seen the Nortel VPN router core and reboot sometimes making various configuration changes but I've never seen it hang and web server. If you have SSH or a modem attached to the console port you could try remotely rebooting the device. You could also have someone power cycle it for you.

Perhaps you are using the wrong URL or port? Were you utilizing SSL to connect (https://) perhaps you were using port 10443 as opposed to port 443? (https://vpnrouter:10443)?

What version of software are you running?

I've generally not seen any similar issues with the 20 or so Contivity 1010,1050,1100,1700,1740 models that we have installed.

Good Luck!

Good Luck

Hi Mike,

Thanks for the reply.

Yes, i was checking my BO sessions on the router when one of my colleauge logged in using the same credentials.

It is reachable and i can ping the public interface. The problem is i cannot even get the prompt for user credentials in CLI mode, no modem attached.yes i am planning to get downtime and reboot it manually.

i beleive the URL is correct because it hung suddenly while working, yes SSL to connect.

Software version - couldnt remember but sure will reply on monday with details.

Happy to get a reply from the forum.

Regards,

Krish
