1140E phones losing its features.
« on: August 03, 2011, 11:51:41 AM »
Hello, im new here so i hope im posting in the right area.
We have a DMVPN setup and 5 1140E phones were setup and tested in our office in texas, everything worked.
When we sent these to africa, the phones lost their feature button programming.
there are no Firewall restrictions in place, everything is on VLAN 100 physically, but im not sure the phones are setup with VLAN id 100.
When a call appearance was programmed, all the features started working again however a power outtage occured and now the feature buttons do not work again.
Can anyone point me in a troubleshooting direction here?
Im  shoretel,Avaya IP office certified , not as familiar with nortel but i do understand IP telephony/Voip a great deal.

Hi grajin and welcome to the forums!

How do you ultimately restore the feature buttons? If the IP phones are connecting to the same CS1000 they should have the same feature set that was previously programmed on the TN.

Are the IP phones in the same "Zone" as they were previously?

Good Luck!

"zone" what are you reffering to? is that a nortel parameter?

ok I spoke to our nortel guy, yes the phones are in a different zone.
He is checking this zone setup, it was created due to the incoming call route.
Also, there is an SRG at this location but not all of the phones are setup on it, 3 of the phones are connecting through the DMVPN to our cs1000, the issue effects them as well.
if he programs a new button on these phones, all of a sudden every feature works again until power is lost.
I assume its pulling down a configuration once these changes are saved, enabling feature buttons again.
Is this a local mode issue?
The difference between the local zone and the africa zone is:
Africa: the Interzone Strategy is set to Best bandwidth and Zone intent is BMG
local zone:set to  Best Quality. and zone intent is VTRK

You probably need to push him on this... features and soft buttons have nothing to-do with an IP network. It's more likely that you've stumbled onto a bug if the zone configuration isn't over-riding some of the class features that the TN is programmed with. If you have the support of a voice reseller I would push them on this... they should be able to research with Avaya and resolve the problem.

Good Luck!
