I'm new to Nortel IP softphone. My problem is, after installing the softphone and the contivity VPN client and use the softphone it works fine but after shutting down/restarting my computer the IP Softphone won't allow me to login anymore, the softphone just keeps on restarting, it displays a message saying "Restarting in xx seconds" after that another mesaage will appear saying "connecting to server" and the softphone keeps on doing that repeatedly. So what my client did was deregister the agent user ID and register it again and on my end I have to uninstall the IP softphone and the VPN program and reinstall it again just for us to be able to use it for the day.

Is there a way that we can get rid of this problem? Please help me, I would really appreciate it.

Thanks!

Hi ipsoftyphone and welcome to the forums!

You mention "agent user ID" which leads me to believe you are either using basic ACD or a Contact Center (Symposium) configuration. Let me ask the obvious questions before we proceed to far. After you restarted your computer you started the Nortel VPN client and logged back into the VPN router?

The Nortel IP 2050 softphone is behaving like that because it's unable to communicate with the Nortel Succession Signaling Servers. Again let me just ask about the basics, the softphone is properly configured with the CS1000 node IP address and port? Are you able to ping the Nortel Succession Node IP address and the Signaling Server IP addresses?

You might want to start your testing with just a basic TN/DN configuration, removing any ACD functionality.

What version of the IP 2050 softphone are you using? What version of software is your CS1000 running?

If you can provide some additional information we might be able to help guide you in the right direction.

Good Luck!

Thanks very much for your quick reply.

Yes my client is using this for his contact center(customer support). After restarting the computer I make sure to connect Nortel VPN client before opening the Nortel IP Softphone. The Softphone is configured as BCM type, IP address and port.

I will tell my client to test the basic TN/DN configuration and remove any ACD functionality.

I think the Version of the IP Softphone 2050 is 2.01.0260 and as for the version of CS1000 software I don't know yet as what I can remember it's running under BCM type not CS1000.

I forwarded your reply to my client already I'm just waiting for his reply.

By the way, my client is from Canada and I'm from another country. I installed the Nortel VPN client and the Nortel IP softphone 2050 to 2 of our computers here in our office.

I'm glad I found this site it's very helpful. I hope we can fix this problem soon.

Thanks again.
