If you have other IP phones working in the same VLAN (Layer 2 network) I'm going to assume that you have a defective IP phone.

You should at least hear dial-tone going off-hook. The dial-tone is generated from the handset itself, there's no voice path necessary to just get dial-tone.

If you don't get any dial-tone from the handset do you get any dial-tone from the handsfree (speaker phone?)

Good Luck!

Hi Michael,

I don't hear a dial-ton when push button handsfree.

This is my second test with same model ip phone NTDU91. I tested 2 ip phone #NTDU91.

I have 3 ip phone #NTDU76 are working verry good.

But my model number NDTU91 new ip phone, i think is not compatible with my BCM 400

I talk to my dealer and will shipping a model #NTDU76.

i will testing and i give a news.

Thanks

Stéphane

Hi Stéphane,

Hmmm... any i2002 should be supported by a BCM.

How are you powering the i2002 IP phone? Is it from a PoE (Power over Ethernet) switch?

There are differnet "models" of i2002 as you've come to find. There are the phase one IP phones and phase two IP phones.

You can't use the same power supply between the different models.

When you place a call IP phone to IP phone the voice path is between the phones and only the control traffic goes to the BCM. So as long as IP connectivity between the two IP phones isn't blocked/disrupted everything should be good.

Let us know how you are powering the IP phones.

Good Luck!

I don't believe there are different models... there was a bulletin here somewhere, let me look it up.

You need a "new" power supply for the newer manufactured IP phones. If you are using an old power supply with the newly manufactured IP phone you are going to have trouble.

Let me see if I can find that bulletin from Nortel... yes I found it right here;

Phase II IP Phone 200x - Change to supported AC Power Supplies

If you have the older IP phones and need to replace the older power supply here's a bulletin that deals with that;

Global Power Supply replacements available for Nortel IP Phones

Cheers!

Hi Michael,

The Bell technician was solved my problem. i have a router for my BCM and it don't have a table routing between the BCM network and my local network.

After route adding, My IP telephone works very good.

Thanks

Stephane
