E1140 SIP 4.2 Questions
« on: January 27, 2012, 04:08:29 PM »
I bought a E1140 on ebay and have been playing with it.

I'm doing the provision with a HTTP server.

I struggled a bit to disable the extended feature set. The main problem is that the config "USB_HEADSET LOCK" is not on the documention, it is supposed to be "USB_HEADSET NO":

"USB_HEADSET [YES | NO[ This parameter enables or disables the USB
headset. The default value is NO.
- YES – enables the USB headset
- NO – disables the USB headset (default)."

SIP 4.3

After I got this I still have a bunch of questions:

Some changes on the DEVICE_CONFIG file get reflected on the phone after update (ex ADMIN_PASSWORD), but BANNER for example only gets set on the first time and then any modification doens't change the phone.

How exactly does the USER_CONFIG file works? I understand I create a file with the mac address on the filename, but what kind of settings do I put there? The sames as in DEVICE_CONFIG but they get used instead for the matching device?

Is it possible to set the Display backlight timeout from the configuration files?

Since I have 5 feature keys available (beside the one used by the line), I want to configure them for speed dial. Can I do this with a file?

Thanks!

While I've looking on this for the last 6 hours, 5 minutes after I posted I got some answers:

For the banner to be updated I must have "FORCE_BANNER YES". Documentation says that is to override user settings, but its also needed to replace a previous provision setting.

I can configure the feature keys for speedial with DEFAULT_CUSTOMKEYS_FILE.
This is also supposed to allow to set backlight timeout, but it's not working.

[prefs]
backgroundImage=car.png
backlightTimeout=1

The backgoung image part works, the backlight doens't...

Thanks!

Hi Mike and welcome to the forums!

You'll find the answer regarding the extended license in this post;

You can utilize a TFTP server as your provisioning server, you don't need to use a HTTP server.
