1220 and 1230 IP phone stuck on Load Application...
« on: November 21, 2011, 11:41:56 AM »
I've recently updated both a 1220 and 1230 IP set to the lasted unistim load of 062AC8G. Then I changed the PROV server to our IP office. The IP office did send the file and the IP set showed it writing the file. Once the phone reboots it is stuck on "Load Application..."

I tried TFTP as well (using the UP key and 2 to load boot c) with SIP12x004.01.15.00.bin and I get the same thing after the firmware is written. It is stuck on "Load Application..."

It seems to get stuck on the SIP FW.

1220 set is NTYS20
1230 set is NTYS19

Any ideas?

Hi ericbarg and welcome to the forums!

I've seen this problem myself from time to time... it usually indicates that the IP phone isn't configured properly, or hasn't gotten the proper DHCP information. I believe you can still enter the configuration (double press Services key) or by striking the four soft keys below the display when the Avaya logo is on the screen (while the IP phone is booting up).

Cheers!

Thanks for your reply and the welcome.

Niether set boots up to that point. When you put power to the set, it immediately comes up with "Load Application...". Services key doesn't work nor does the Avaya logo show. The only way to recover the set is to do the key up and #2 key and load the unistim fw in.

Are you sure you're completing the SIP firmware installation?

Unless there is an undocumented step I am missing. I see the display say "Reading..." then changes to "Writing..." Once that is complete, the phone reboots and the Load Application... screen appears.

I take it we are stumped. I just tried updating to the IPO R8 SIP FW and same thing. Bizarre. The worst thing is that its happening on 4 different phones.

I'll try to break out my 1220 IP phones this weekend... I had this issue but was able to overcome it pretty quickly. I just can't remember what I did, probably because I thought I had done something wrong in the process.

When you say "IPO R8 SIP FW" I'm not sure I follow you. The latest Avaya release is SIP v4.3 which was released on Dec 13, 2011.
