Greetings,
I hate that this is my first post. Thanks to trolling through these forums and a blog or two... I've been able to reconfigure a bunch of 1140e UNISTim phones to SIP v.X with the appropriate *.cfg and *.dat files. I have a local TFTP Server and connect to a remote VOIP SIP provider and may potentially add a local Asterisk install and SIP Trunk Lines?
Licensing question first... I understand very well that these phones are intended primarily for usage in larger environments connecting to Nortel/Avaya provisioned services. Whereas I am not, nor will ever connecting that way. I will be faced with 1 of 2 choices unless someone here can provide me with some guidance. I can either chose to stick with the seemingly limited, yet unlocked SIP1140e.02.02.21 - OR - what I have been trying desperately to figure out. Purchase single token license files ((ipctoken*.cfg), I think???) so that I can unlock the Enhanced Features once the Trial period expires. I have scoured the internet, spoken with local resellers and hounded Avaya, who countinues to send me back to the reseller community. I am not getting anywhere. I will not endorse this, but I even tried replicating the above mentioned file name with a true MAC address and no success.
Can anyone provide any advice? These phones are currently connecting to a provider who as I understand it is running an Asterisk variant back-end. It's a straight SIP connection. I'd like the phones to be functional. I should also add that I have the ability to host other applications/server/services here locally if necessary.
Best regards,
e
