1120e SSH/telnet access and auto provisioning over HTTP
« on: August 11, 2011, 11:02:01 AM »
I have 2 questions about the 1120e running SIP02.02.21:

1.) I notice that when I enter the "Provisioning Server url:" using the set's display, it strips the port from the URL. I'm provisioning over HTTP and prefer not to have the server running on the default HTTP port hence the address " newbielink:http://131.124.0.52:8080/CS/p/1120e/fw2_2_21 [nonactive]". Anyway around this for this SIP FW load?

2.) Does the 02.02.21 SIP firmware support SSH and/or telnet access? I have added the entries below to the configuration, but when when I try to ssh to it (ssh -l admin 131.124.0.150), I get the message "connect to host 131.124.0.150 port 22: Connection refused"

SSH YES
SSHID admin
SSHPWD admin

On a side-note, I have read that one could telnet to the device, but its been difficult trying to determine what credentials the set is looking for. In a nutshell, I am just try to access the pdtcfg option to ensure that the configurations I am expecting the device to have digested, have actually worked.

Thanks in advance for any answers or pointing in the proper direction!!

Hi Aaron and welcome to the forums!

It might be possible with later software releases. You can download the latest SIP firmware directly from Avaya's support website (no account needed) and upgrade our 1120e.

With regard to SSH, I know it works with later releases... again I think you need to upgrade since you are running a very old version of software.

Have a look at this blog post, http://blog.michaelfmcnamara.com/2011/01/avaya-ip-1100-series-ip-phone-upgrade-to-sip/

Good Luck!

Thanks very much, for the timely response! I'll bump up the firmware to 3.02. I would love to go to SIP4.x but I believe that I read in the Adminsitrators Guide, that the set we purchased (new) for evaluation is "too early" to support 4, or rather, SIP4 was incompatible with it.  Its a NTYSO3BCE6.

Thanks again! This site is very useful
