XFP 10GE modules for 5600's
« on: September 14, 2011, 03:22:28 PM »
Anyone found combatable XFP 10GE modules that run fine in the 5600’s so we know options?

Not sure if this is allowed but, I get my GBICS from here and they are a third of the cost of the official Nortel / Avaya ones. We bought a quite a few 10g optical transceivers for our 8600's and they work great. UK based.

When cost is a concern to a client, we get our pluggable optics from MRV.  Anything you can dream of those guys make it for pluggable optics.  Need an SFP to plug in to a gig port, but run 100Base-FX optical?  They make it.  Need to run gigabit data over 1km on 62.5um fiber?  They make it.

We use the same 10GBaseER optics that we use in our ERS 8600 in our ERS 5530s without issue so I would be surprise if that is any different on the ERS 5600 series. There is a document out there somewhere that detail which optics will and won't work in which switches but these days I believe most of them are interoperable.

I'll see if I can dig it up.

Cheers!
