Routing Conflict on ERS:8600 v7.1.0.1
« on: November 07, 2011, 09:00:13 AM »
hi,

I am facing an issue(ERS 8600 V7.1.0.1) in which if a route is defined in bootconfig to some destination and another route (say VRF)to the same destination, the switch use the route from the bootconfig instead of using the route from VRFs.

so route in bootconfig is getting preference, what i beleive is that it should not happen, because the objective of creating VRF is among other to be able to use the same detination subnet in different VRFs.

please advice.

OK, so you have a static route that is taking precedence over a route learned from a routing protocol?  If I am reading this correctly, that is what should happen.  Static routes take precedence over other types of routes.  Looking on my 8600, the route preference table looks like this with the cost of each route type.  Local routes always win...

0 - Local
5 - Static / Static IPv6
20 - OSPF Intra/ OSPF Intra v3
25 - OSPF Inter / OSPF Inter v3
45 - EBGP
100 - RIP
120 - OSPF External / OSPF External v3
125 - OSPF External 2 / OSPF External 2 v3
175 - IBGP
