RAPID-CITY-MIB
« on: May 14, 2010, 11:56:08 AM »
Hello,

today I updated my MIB repository and get the files Ethernet_Routing_Switch_5xxx_MIBs_6.1.0.zip and p80a5120.mib.zip.

In both zip-files I found diffrent files for the RAPID-CITY-MIB.

In Ethernet_Routing_Switch_5xxx_MIBs_6.1.0.zip, RAPID-CITY.mib with 5554 lines and last updated on 11 May 2009 and

in p80a5120.mib.zip, rapid_city.mib 53480 lines and last updated on 01 January 1997.

So what can I do for using one file for both ERS8600 and ERS5000 ?

Regards
wmann

You should be safe in using the RAPID-CITY mib included with the ERS 5500 software release.

It is odd how they haven't been updating the MIB with the ERS 8600 software releases.

Cheers!

I can actually answer why the mib for the 8600 hasn't been updated.

Since there isn't that much of a change in the mib database infrastructure (ie where the actual oid's are in relation to most of the information you'll get from the 8600) they haven't had a reason to update the mib databases. If they do update the MIB database it would just be for asthetics. You would still get the same information (port up and down, etc) no matter what blade you're using as the ports do not exceed 48 ports.

Hope that answers a small question on why they haven't updated the mibs for the 8600.

The concern is that there have been quite a few features added since the MIB was last updated...

So I guess we'll never seen SNMP support for any of those features?

I haven't looked yet but I'm guessing that the MIB for the 7.0 software release has changed... at a minimum they would need to include all the IPv6 stuff.

Cheers!
