Passport 8600 upgrade
« on: January 25, 2012, 12:15:06 PM »
Hello everybody,

We are currently running two 8600 in cluster mode (IST connection). Their version is a little old (ok very): 4.1.7.2.
I would like to upgrade them, so I have some questions before ordering something:

- I would like to know which is for you a good version supported by Avaya (the version rotation on the avaya site is frightening).
- I suppose I have to buy some supermezz cards, is there different version or only one ?
- Is there a upgrade path recommanded ?

Concerning our system, we are using IPv4, some OSPF and static routing, SMLT, SLPP, MLT, IST, VLACP.

Regards,

Regards,

Since you brought up the supermezz cards I assume you are having 8692SF CPUs?

If you do you can try running 5.1.7.0. That versions supports all the features you seem to be using and does not require daughter cards.

I am running 5.1.7.0 in the lab on 8691SFs and live on 8692SFs with supermezz. Fixed some issues we had with 5.1.6.0 and so far we have had absolutely no issues with the release.
Greetings from Kassel, Germany

@Dorian

- I would like to know which is for you a good version supported by Avaya (the version rotation on the avaya site is frightening).

With your hardware you can update to 5.1.7 wich is a very stable version in my expirience.

- I suppose I have to buy some supermezz cards, is there different version or only one ?
There is only one supermezz module wich is a daughter board that is plugged on your 8692SF module.
The second option here is the 8695SF CPU module wich has the capabilitys of the supermezzcard onboard.

Concerning our system, we are using IPv4, some OSPF and static routing, SMLT, SLPP, MLT, IST, VLACP.
Alll these features you can run with the 5.1.x code.  You are go to go with SW 5.1.7.

Cheers
Itīs always the network...
