Nortel ESM - Schedule Autobackups
« on: June 04, 2010, 08:13:12 AM »
Hi All,

I'm wondering if anyone could you please help me with setting up Scheduled backups via Nortel ESM.

  We have a variety of Nortel 425, 470's , 5520 , 4548 , 8006 Switches.

I can view the whole topology via ESM, and trying to use .inv file to schedule backup

I have TFTP Server open on same PC and everytime I try to test by running a Backup , it fails generating a log saying

  timed out

However if i telnet to device and running the copy command to tftp server which is same PC it works fine..

Is there any way of Scheduling backups?
There is no firewall in picture.. tftp port is open and server is listening on that port

Thanks
Jaffar

Verify that the SNMP community strings are correct. ESM will use SNMP to tell the device to activate the TFTP copy.

To do so, you'll need to go to Edit>Communites/Passwords.

Make sure that the read/write communities are correct if you're using SNMPv1/2. If using SNMPv3, verify that the username, auth and priv protocols are correct and the passwords are entered correctly.

Thank you for your reply
but if SNMP strings are incorrec it will never let me auto discover devices an loa he topology map.

so they are correct

I will cross verify them
