« on: September 04, 2011, 10:06:45 PM »

But once logged in i wanted to telnet to a server IP address on port 80 and also on TCP 1494.
but when i do that it defaults to port 23 can some one please advice how i can run the command to check if port 1494 is open on the 8006 switch.

Thank you

Hi pritesht and welcome to the forums!

The telnet client is a pretty simple implementation, you can only specify the IP address of the server you wish to connect to.

You'll need to run your commands from a workstation or server and not the switch itself.

Cheers!

Hi Michael,

Thanks for the response but what actually is the issue.

IS we have a PC which connects to a Switch and then Switch Connects to a Nortel 8006 Ethernet Routing Switch and that Connect to a Cisco 1841 Router.
So from the PC we are trying to connect to a Citrix Server.
On our firewall we have allowed and we can see the allowed hit when we are tring to connect.
Also we can telnet from the Cisco 1841 Router and its works fine.
But i did a wireshark from the PC it sents a syn but doesnt receive a syn+Ack
So the PC can't connect to the Citrix Server.
We have tested from Cisco Router and session is Open.
SO we are thinking is there a way we can test from the nortel switch since right now its the switch which is changing something to not allow the packet back.

Thanks

Pritesh

Hi Pritesh,

Unless you have some ACLs or filters in place the ERS 8606 is just going to route (forward) the traffic.

The magic question - are you able to ping (ICMP) the Citrix server from the PC?

Assuming this problem is impacting multiple PCs you probably need to look at your routing tables and make sure that the ERS 8606, firewall and Cisco router all know how to get to the networks that both the Citrix server and PC are on.

Let us know how you make out.

Have you turned on the "telnetd true" flag?

Cheers, Uncle John.
