Nortel 5520 RADIUS issue
« on: June 13, 2010, 10:19:26 AM »
Hi,

I configured Microsoft RADIUS (IAS) and tried connecting to a Nortel 5520 switch via IAS. The connectivity failed. The windows log file states that access granted. But I am not able to login to the switch. Appreciate any help in identifying the issue. Thanks.

Are you using Radius to authenticate to a network port via EAPOL? Or using Radius to authenticate passwords on the switch management console or telnet?

Have a look at this post and there is a link to a technical configuration guide that will walk you through the entire process.

There are various steps you need to take and an equal number of places where you could have gone wrong. I would suggest you read over the technical configuration document and hopefully that will give you an idea of where to start looking first.

Good Luck!

Note that there is a bug in 55xx software version 6.1.2 that causes it to send the username "nortel" instead of the provided username and it keeps sending this every 3 minutes.  This has been fixed in 6.1.3.

If you have 6.1.2, upgrade to 6.1.3.

Thanks Michael,

That document was useful. AAA auth is working fine.

Thanks for the tip  telecom116.

Thanks.
