Hi and welcome to the forum,

in AVAYA speech bpdu guard is called STP BPDU-Filtering.

you can enable it with the following command:

spanning-tree bpdu-filtering port (id) timeout 120

Good Luck

FYI.  Port Fast in Cisco is Fast Start in Avaya.  We also have PVST+ on the 8600 series.

Cheers, Uncle John.

Hi

Thanks for the response , But i have one question

Suppose BPDU Filtering is enabled on the port which are access ports .

If someone accidently connected one cable from one Switch port no-10 to another switch port no-20  on access ports where trunk is already there and working.

So port will ignore BPDU as BPDU Filter is enabled and if i have enabled BPDU Gurad in this case BPDU Guard listen bpdu on that port and port will be error-disabled or shutdown.

Here is difference between BPDU guard and BPDU filtering in Cisco enviorment.

As i am a new in Nortel

Please clarify me if BPDU Filtering will does the same in nortel what BPDU guard works in Cisco.

Thanks in advance.

Nilesh

here is the official Avaya discription of the BPDU Filtering feature:

BPDU filtering is normally used as a protection mechanism within a Spanning Tree network. This feature blocks an unwanted root selection process when a device is added to the network and also blocks BPDU packets from ingressing the port. This feature is also a valuable protection mechanism in a Switch Cluster network as it will block loops created by connecting Edge closets directly together, therefore it is recommended to enable BPDU Filtering on all end user ports.
