Large file copy
« on: October 18, 2011, 10:00:32 AM »
Is there a way, other than taking the PCMCIA card out of the router and placing it in my laptop, that I can copy large files from my 8600? TFTP has a file limitation of 32mb and I have a file on my router that is 60mb that I need to copy. It is a .gz file and Avaya support is asking for the file. Anybody had any luck coping a large file?

Hi bwilliams2,

I believe the file limitation of 32MB is dependent on the TFTP server you use?  Have you tried alternative TFTP servers?

I use 3CDaemon, but I am not sure if a file limitation exists on this TFTP server?

the 3CDaemon had problems with big files in my expireince..
Try the solar winds TFTP server. It is also freeware as the 3CDeamon, but if I remeber it right you have to register yourself on the Solar Winds Homepage.
In my case I was able to copy big files with the Solar Winds TFTP Server.

Good Luck

You can use FTP as long as you have it enabled....

@bwilliams2

what additional steps do you had to do besides enable the FTP deamon to transfer your file via FTP ?
Do you pushed the file from your ers8600 or get it from FileZilla.
Did the normal RWA user/pass also work for ftp or do you need to set up an extra FTP user ?
Havnīt used FTP on the ERS8600  so far and couldnīt find a good documentaion from Avaya how it works.

You just need to enable the FTP server via the following command

config bootconfig flags ftpd true

this assumes you don't have any access policies defined or any filters to block traffic to the switch IP interface.

Then you should be able to login with the RWA user. You may need to manually change to the /flash or /pcmcia filesystem.

Cheers!

To follow up with what Michael said, yes you login with RWA access and you GET the file using Filezilla. I use Filezilla because I am familiar with the program. One "gotcha" was that when you first connect your default directory is the /flash I had to change the directory in the "site" properties in Filezilla.
