IST/ SMLT boot problem
« on: June 16, 2010, 10:05:34 AM »
Hello,

I have a problem with my IST and SMLT on a 8300 Cluster (v4.1.3.1).
When i boot the 2x switches at the same time, it is like there is a race condition and my IST and SMLT don't go up.
I need to reboot one of the 2x Switches in order to see the IST and MLT to go up.

When i wait like 10~20s between the 2 starts, everything works fine

Does somebody already experienced that ? And if so, did you find a solution ?

Thanks !

There are a number of "race" conditions that exist in the older code, hence the re-design of the IST/SMLT architecture in 4.1.8.3 software and beyond.

Are you using VRRP? and if so on how many VLANs? If you are using VRRP do you have unique VRRP IDs across all VLANs?

Your solution will likely be to upgrade the switch software to 4.1.8.3 or beyond.

Good Luck!
