How to limit a certain TCP traffic on an ers 5520 switch
« on: November 14, 2011, 10:27:26 AM »
Hello there,

Great forum, a lot of precious info here, please keep up the good work.

Well i am trying to limit a certain kind o traffic on a specific port of a ers 5520 swtich, and i have managed to limit ALL the traffic on that port to a maximum of 128k but i was wondering if it may be possible to limit only TCP on port 80, for example!

My switch has the V6.2.2.025 image.

Tanx in advance.

Hi BBFace and welcome to the forum,

I don't believe you can rate limit on a particular traffic type/port but I might be wrong?

Hello Flintstone,

Thanx for the welcome, i hope to be helpfull on other issues to this forum.

Regarding my question, well i also haven't found any info that might help me with this, but if we check the QOS menu with JDM, on the QOS rules we can specify an IP Classifier element, and then creat a rule for that created element.

But i haven't figured it out well so i wasn't able make it work.

Have you ever tried this?

Thanx again!

Hi BBFace,

It looks like you are playing with the QoS settings.  I use 'Auto QoS' in hybrid mode and then 'trust' the uplinks and ports where the IP phones are attached.  Works like a dream.

Hi BBFace and welcome to the forums!

While you can traffic shape on the Ethernet Routing Switch 8600/8800 switches per the various queue sets I don't believe the ERS 5000 series supports per queue shaping.

Here's the relevant document for the ERS 8600;

Cheers!

It looks like it certainly might be possible with 6.2 software....
