ERS5520 Upgrade to Utilize LLDP-MED
« on: November 03, 2011, 03:38:34 PM »
Hello everyone,

Currently our 5520 switches are at v5.1.3 and our 470/460 stacks are at 3.7.5.  I'd like to utilize LLDP-MED to assign a voice VLAN, priority and DSCP values to our Nortel IP sets and get away from DHCP option 191 (Voice VLAN).  Looking through the software release notes and sifting through the awesome posts on this site I have a few remaining questions I'm hoping someone could help me answer.

1. It appears that we are out of luck for using LLDP-MED on our 470/460 stacks and so is our only option to use ADAC to get away from option 191?
2. The LLDP-MED enhancement was added at v5.1.4 for the 55xx series (missed it by 0.0.1 :'( :'().  Has anyone had issues with 5.1.4? I am worried that I will have to upgrade to v6.x as I have seen in some release notes from 6.x where there are a few LLDP-MED issues with previous releases.  Which leads to question 3:
3.  With the absence of the "known issues" tool from the old Nortel site, is there a way to look up the resolved problems (wi00######) that are referenced in the release notes?

Thank you!!!

I believe they have added various LLDP and ADAC functionality to the 460/470 software. You would need to test to see if everything is there and working properly.

In my testing you MUST use at least 5.0.6 software if you intend to be successful so you should be fine. That shouldn't stop you from testing it yourself prior to rolling out any changes. - Yes I have run ADAC/LLDP-MED on 5.1.4 software without any issues.

You can try the using Google but not to my knowledge.

Good Luck!
