ERS 8600 - ERROR: copy failed (code:0x3d0002)
« on: February 03, 2012, 12:22:14 PM »
I ran into an interesting problem this morning trying to copy software up to an ERS 8606 v7.1.1 from a CentOS 6.2 server via TFTP. I've been using this same process and TFTP server (although it's been upgraded since the CentOS 5.x days) and never had an issue.

This morning I ran into the following problem trying to copy the boot code;

sw-8600-r2.wan.acme.org:5# copy 10.1.1.50:/p80b7130.img /flash/p80b7130.img
Device /flash has 30568448 bytes of free

 ERROR: copy failed (code:0x3d0002)

This weird part was that every other file copied without an issue so I tried to copy that file again;

sw-8600-r2.wan.acme.org:5# copy 10.1.1.50:/p80b7130.img /flash/p80b7130.img
Device /flash has 30568448 bytes of free

 ERROR: copy failed (code:0x3d0002)

I check the MD5 hash of the file and it was correct so I quickly fired up TFTPD32 from my desktop;

sw-8600-r2.wan.acme.org:5# copy 10.2.1.25:/p80b7130.img /flash/p80b7130.img
Device /flash has 30568448 bytes of free

And it was successful. I'm not sure what the story is with that...

Cheers!

Hi,

It is indeed strange that with another tftp server the file starts running at once. The copy fail notification is posted when for example the file adressed is not present in the tftp folder.

I have upgraded some ers8692's and 8895's by now with 3cdeamon but no issues what so ever.

regards,

rag

Well I figured the problem out yesterday....

PICNIC

(problem in chair not in computer)

I had inverted two numbers in the IP address of the TFTP host.

I noticed it yesterday when I upgraded my second ERS 8606 to 7.1.3.0 software and had the same problem.

<facepalm>  Well, I think we have all done that...  or far far worse... ( looks around carefuly ).  Working in the server room late at night the server guys asked me to pull the power for a server they were unracking.  I pulled the wrong power cable and trashed the entire storage array.  They had to restore from tape and it took 2 days.

@Michael
PICNIC is a very cool short cut that I hadnīt known so far, I usually called that a Layer 8 problem.

Cheers
