ERS 5510-48T - Advanced License installation failed.

G'Day guys,

I just bought 1x ERS5000 Advanced LIC. (1 Switch/Stack).

I'm trying to upload the license file I generated in newbielink:https://nortellicensing.com [nonactive] and it's failing.

Guys, do you have any ideas why? The TFTP found OK. MAC address is correct.
I need this license ASAP.

Hi Pavel and welcome to the forums!

I would suggest that you try renaming the license file to license.dat (8.3 filesystem naming convention) and try uploading the file again. Assuming that you've got the MAC address correctly defined I would guess that this might be your problem.

I already tried with short filename (8+3).
Also, I tried with extension ".lic". Same thing. :(

I'm trying to find demo license and then to attempt add/upgrade to permanent license.
Does anybody knows Nortel's web site download link for demo license?

Hmmm...

I'll look at your link right now... I'm not sure the 30 day demo license will work with 6.1 software although I could probably post the file somewhere for you to download and try.

Just to confirm you used this MAC address (MAC Address: 00-12-83-3B-YY-XX) when you registered the license with the Nortel Licensing portal? That MAC address is from the output of show stack-info which you previously provided below.

You can find the demo license under the 6.1 software release for the 5000 series switch. It's at the bottom of the screen below the agent code, secure code, boot code, MIB, etc

That post looks very plausible. How many licenses did you issue from the bank? I've noticed myself that every 'activation code' I've added to the Nortel Licensing portal added 2 licenses. Perhaps that's your problem.

I would suggest that you contact Nortel for additional support on this issue especially since you just purchased the Advanced License.

I really don't understand why & how come...

I have been following the exact instruction described on the Nortel License doc (1.jpg).

Since I've no temporal Base Unit, I added one MAC address only during license generation in format capital letters only and colons (i.e. AB:4D:7B:CA:XX:YY:).

By the way I've successfully installed the demo license...no issues and still can't install the permanent one.

I tried to get Nortel’s European support but I was listening IVRs only :(.
 
I downgrade and try adding the permanent license today with the following versions: 55x0_50011s.img, 55x0_510015s.img, 55x0_600005s.img, 5xxx_603009s.img and 5xxx_610007s.img.
The result is the same with all versions I tried.

I got lost. I don't know what's happening.

Does anybody know how to perform factory reset in order to try again?

You freaked me out for a few minutes there Pavel...

I thought you had accidentally posted the actual codes, thank you for redacting them from your documents.

I would use the ERC for the Ethernet Routing Switch 5000 Series, you should be able to find the contact numbers and ERC for your region from the following link; http://www.nortel.com/help/contact/erc/technicalsupportemea.html.

I just remember that will be really great to share with you and close the topic...
So, I contacted Nortel's (Avaya's) customer support.
They re-generated new LAC using the mac address on the back of the box (physical mac).

So, the problem was solved.
