Do not go for OSPF routes in ERS-5510
« on: November 14, 2011, 10:02:50 PM »
Hi, I have ERS-5510 OSPF routing through an activated license. Feature is enabled op-mode 5510. Routing table is complete, about 800 routes. Part of the route does not work out. In what may be the problem?

Hi Eugene and welcome to the forums!

Unfortunately you are way beyond the capacity of the ERS 5510 with respect to routes in the routing table.

If you look at the Small Campus Technical Solution Guide you'll find that the maximum number of routes is 512 on page 12

Maximum route table size is 512 entries (maximum supported by the ERS 5510)

Good Luck!

Thank you very much for your reply, Michael.
It turns out that this problem only with ERS-5510. I am still ERS-5520 in the same configuration and there is no such problem.

The hardware between the ERS 5510 and 5520 is very different (there was a hardware refresh I believe between the two models).

While the ERS 5510 can only have 512 routes the ERS 5520/5530 can have up to 2000 routes.

Cheers!

The 5510 is limited to 512 routes.
The 5520/5520 (and currently the 5600 series) has a 2000 route limit.

Have you tried to implement Route Summaries?

Thank you for your participation.
After the application of Route Summaries table fell and the problem goes away.

Thank you all and good luck.

Is that route limit of 4000 routes there in a Hybrid stack (5600/5520)?  Is it the same as the 5520/5510 - the lower route limit wins.

I was focused on other items in the release notes and didn't pay attention to the # of routes.
The Avaya TLV items to get around the Avaya phones not doing LLDP-MED (The Nortel ones do) was my biggest need along with the WEB interface improvements when I went to 6.2.2.
