thank you Dom.

unfortunately my last Nortel account is linked to my corporate address, which is linked to my corporate support contract, access rights, contact info. etc etc.  Because I don't really work there any more I just left that account to die.  And since the avaya take over I never bothered making a new account for personal use.

Hi I am kind of a newbie using CLImanager and we would like to change the passwords for 100+ Avaya (Nortel) switches easily. I was checking out the scripting as well as batch files and I am stubbing my toe on the response from the switch where I enter "username monitor ro" and the switch responds with "Enter password:" (obviously requesting password infor from me) - I played with the "answerprompt" variable in a batch file with the password entered, but to no avail.

Is there something I am overlooking?

Thanx !

no problem - using CLIManager batch file:

answerprompt "Enter password:" with "password"
answerprompt "Confirm password:" with "password"

(now in my login script, if only I can figure out how to pass
the Ctrl-Y to log-in after I Telnet. I tried the "^Y"
batch command, to no avail ... oh well, I will keep trying ...)

Hey Guys

CLIManager is a great tool especially useful when you have mutable sites to maintain the address book feature works a teat for that…
The only downside I struggle with is trying to create scripts using the script editor the examples shown in Cli are baffling.
If anyone as a working Cli script that would be great, just wanna see how the code goes together… thanks

I wonder where Brett Sinclair is these days.... (author of CLI Manager).

CLI Manager was a tool design by Brett internally to help Nortel personnel manage large numbers of Passport 6400 and 7400 Mutli-Service switches. It grew to include the ability to manage an assortment of devices including the ability to create physical topology maps by polling the switches. It had the ability to issue the same command across multiple switches... say you want to change the time on every switch. You'd select all the switches and then issue the CLI command.... the application would send the commands to login to every switch and then issue the CLI command for you. It was pretty neat and still is.

Cheers!
I'm a newbie to this site but ancient to  Nortel and CLIManager (worked for Nortel for 19 years when it was really managed and watched  as bean counters and bandits took a "Right Turn" straight into the ground) Bret I think now works for Nokia and is on Linkedin.

does anyone happen to have access to the Solaris/Linux version(s) and can post them?
