Thanks for all of your responses.
As for the POE requirements and the Avaya switch max POE output capabilities, I hope to have accounted for that by installing 56xx series switches where required and these are capable of full POE on every port if there are 2 power supplies installed (capable of 3 in total for redundancy). In areas where that didn't make (budgetary) sense, I planned to strategically place the POE devices across more than one 5520 so that I'd never need to worry about exceeding the POE output limit of 320W - a bit of work but hopefully it all goes as planned (and remains that way).
Another question though: has anybody had experience with Avaya’s energy saving features (AES) and non-Avaya POE devices (i.e. Cisco phones or whatever)? Do you know first hand if it is possible to "dim" the power to a non-Avaya phone or can it only be turned off completely?
Also, does anybody use Automatic QOS? I'm kind of weary of that feature and probably wouldn't use it anyway, but supposedly that option is not available with other vendor's phones (other than Avaya phones). I'm too worried about losing that feature but if you have used Automatic QOS do you have any thoughts on it?
thanks in advance.
