authentication VRRP
« on: November 17, 2011, 09:59:35 AM »
There exists some way of forming authentication to the VRRP in the passport 8600.  This is for safety questions. I try to anticipate assault Man in the Middle or someone know some way of solving this.

I don't believe there is but I would suggest you use RSMLT in place of VRRP... it's much less chatty and much easier on the CPU/SF and scales much better than VRRP.

Cheers!

Security is not very strong implemented in VRRP.
You can give your VRRP master the highest priority to avoid overtaken the VRRP active MASTER to a faked roge VRRP instance that announces a higher priority than your own router.
But that pretty much it what you can do to secure VRRP.

I would also recommand as Micheal mentioned to use RSMLT instead of VRRP.

Good Luck
