8600/5530/4500 and RADIUS
« on: December 09, 2009, 09:38:10 PM »
I have 10 8600s (4.1.8.3), 8 5530s, and about 400 4500s that I am trying to configure for RADIUS. We are using Juniper SBR on a Windows Server 2003 box. We configured a test 8600 and 4500 for RADIUS. In the SBR server, we can see the authentication occur when I try to make an SSH session to the switch. The problem is, my SSH session screen remains blank-no text. What am I missing? Thanks in advance.

So far we have figured out that the 5530s with 5.06.027s are limited to 15 characters for both user name and password. The 4500s with 5.01.001 are also limited to 15 and 15. 4500s with 5.22.013 can do 16+. Still working on the 8600s.

Hi Mark and welcome to the forums!

The software code that you are working with is pretty old so you might need to upgrade.

If you haven't found it already here's a technical configuration guide from Nortel;
 2008_03_26_Authentication_Authorization_and_Accounting_for_ERS_and_ES_TCG_NN48500558.pdf

I setup RADIUS authentication to a Microsoft Internet Authentication Service (IAS) a year or two back for a few 8600 and 470 switches.

Let us know how you make out.

Good Luck!
