8600 untag non vlan_default
« on: September 02, 2010, 08:18:33 AM »
hi everyone,

my core is a ERS8600 and a lot of access switch (Nortel,Netgear,ATI,...) on fiber link. I use a vlan byipsubnet (10.10.250.X/24) as
a vlan-mngt. All the access links ports are in this vlan.
Now i need to tag one of these access port because this port need to be on default_vlan, vlan_mngt and a new one vlan_som (a port based vlan). So now the vlan_mngt is tag AND i need to untag this because Netgear switch (which is in front of this link) don't understand tag on this IP interface (and there is no way to remove IP interface to default vlan on this Netgear switch).
I'm not sure i'm clear ?!?
But i think the good inspiration could be to untag vlan_mngt on this port but i don't know how ? and if it's possible ?

thanks as allways...

I don't understand 100% what you are trying to-do but you can use the "UntagDefaultVlan" option to have the switch strip the 802.1q header from any packets that are tagged with the VLAN set as the "DefaultVlanId" for that port.

So, if you wanted to have a tagged trunk/link yet you wanted a specific VLAN to come across as untagged you could set that VLAN as the DefaultVlanId for that port and enable the UntagDefaultVlan option for that port.

Good Luck!

ok that was my plan but i have this message with JDM :
"rcVlanPortDefaultVlanId.194: The specified VLAN ID is invalid or already in use."

I 've choosed the right Vlan ID and this is a vlanbyipsubnet.

????

I'm guessing that your problem is your not using port based VLANs.

I know it won't help you right now but you might want to consider changing to port based VLANs sooner than later.

Good Luck!
