8600 SSH/TELNET/Console Freezes

i've been debating with support in regards to my SSH/TELNET/Console freezing.
basically, when it is frozen, i would do SSH into the switch, i'll be asked for my username/password and the nothing.
sinc ei am on HA mode, i immediately switch over to the other CPU and telnet/ssh starts working normally..then if i immediately switch over to the first CPU, ssh and telnet now work as well.

it is pretty annoying specially when we didn't have HA enabled, it meant a switch reboot.

also, we were having issues with spanning tree completely freezing up the switch to the point that only a restart will bring it back....anyone ever experienced that?

That's quite odd.... and I've never had that problem... well I've never had that problem but it was caused by very high CPU utilization.

What IP interface are you connecting to with your SSH/telnet connection? Is it an IP address tried to a CLIP (loopback) or is it an IP address tied to a physical VLAN or interface (brouter)? The only time I've seen the SSH/telnet CLI interface hang is when I've had severe CPU utilization. what's the CPU utilization when this problem occurs? (You'll obviously need to check from the console/serial port on the CPU/SF itself).

I've also never heard of Spanning Tree freezing up on the ERS 8600... have seen it go belly up (stop working properly) on the Ethernet Switch 460 and 470 but that's only after the network is subjected to a broadcast storm after a loop was introduced.

What model of CPU/SF do you have installed? How busy is it ordinarily?

Let us know... there's probably something wrong somewhere else in your network causing you these issues (assuming you don't have a faulty CPU/SF that's just completely hanging/crashing)

i have an open case at avaya, so i'm hoping to get them replaced.

as i was going this sys perf, i noticed that the CPU 6 was frozen, so i had to switch over to 5

When you say "frozen" you're saying the CPU/SF is hanging? Do you have any issue from the serial console?

I'm guessing you've got some other issue in the network that is impacting your telnet/SSH connections.

well, we figured the problem.
the newest release that i can install on that 8600 has issues with SSH causing the SSH session to hang. only when you switch over CPU's is that the console responds again.
