55xx/56xx sw ver 6.1.7
« on: October 25, 2011, 08:21:19 PM »
Anyone upgraded to version 6.1.7 yet? Just curious if anyone has and has noticed any issues? I somewhat dread upgrading to the latest release when it's only been out for a few weeks. Probably too soon for anyone to have noticed any issues anyway ...

An additional question ... if you are using 6.2.3, are you happy with EDM's performance compared to Device Manager? Ultimitely I'll have to just take the time to try EDM out myself and form my own opinion but I'm just curious if anyone out there has moved on doesn't actually miss DM? I mostly use CLI anyway but DM is useful to me for certain things.

I only tested 6.1.7 in the LAB, so far no issues fpund on that SW version.
The EDM on the ERS5000 had a big improvment since SW 6.2 release.
I also use the CLI for the most task, but JDM EDM is a good additional tool for some task.
With SW 6.2.3 the EDM has very good repond times, and feels much smoother than it was before. I personal still prefer the JDM, in fact I am more used to it.
In combination with the COM you get the best performance out of the EDM. On COM you have a .war file that includes all the code and communicates with your switch with SNMP,
like the old JDM. So the web server that is running on your switch (wich is the bottleneck from the performance point of view) is not needed. All the graphic output is handled by your COM server.

Cheers

All of my 5530-24 Switches and my 56xx Stack are on 6.1.7. I have no issues found.
All systems are running without any problems so far. Some of them are stackedand some
are running as standalone.
Because I am using COM I'll update to 6.2.3 next week. So I have the same look and
feel as on my 45xx Switches. Performance ist good at the Version 6.2.x with using COM at LAB Tests.
I can tell you more after my updates next week if you like.

Cheers
