Site Manager and windows update issue
« on: March 07, 2011, 10:07:52 AM »
Hello,

after the last Windows updates, the site manger doesnīt start anymore.
Tested it with different site manager versioens and all doesnīt work anymore.

It seems to be an compatiblity problem with the latest updates of windows XP.

If anybody knows a workaround for that problem, please give me a hint.
Itīs always the network...

What version of Site Manager are you using? I just launched 15.7.1.0 on my Windows XP desktop without issues although I don't believe I have the February 2011 patches installed just yet... let me go to Windows Update and apply all the missing security updates and I'll post back.

I just applied all available security updates from Windows Update and Site Manager still launches.

Itīs good to hear that is not a generall XP issue.

I have site manager 15.5,  15.6 and 15.7.
I tested it on 5 computers and my colleagues are facing the same issue on their computers.
The installer gives me back an error massage that I (logged on as Administrator) havnīt the rights to install the programm.

Hmmm, maybe it has something to do with our antivirus or personal firewall systems.

THX for your research Michael, I will keep on trying.

In a default installation you should find it in C:\WF with the executable being WFSM.EXE and the working directory being C:\WF\CONFIG

Perhaps there's a corrupt configuration file in C:\WF\CONFIG that's hanging up the application?

I've seen JDM (Java Device Manager) get hung up from time to time and have had to delete the .JDM folder on occasion.

Good Luck!

On a Testsystem without AV client the SideManager work.
So our AV System doesnīt like the good old SideManager software.

SNMP, Telnet ..... yeah that really look suspiscious.
