Symbol PDAs and practical experiences
« on: August 11, 2010, 08:42:53 AM »
Symbol MC9090, MC3090,..
Has anyone experience with Symbol PDA authentication via RADIUS using machine certificate?
I'm not able to findout if there are some special requirements for certificates, if there are some known issues, walkarounds..

To be honest I'm not able to find out any information about this topic on Motorola/Symbol webpages..

Can any push me toward solution?

Thanks.

Hi vlastis,

Symbol/Motorola have some of the best (industrial) handhelds out there... very durable.

I believe they run Windows Mobile (Pocket PC) from Microsoft so outside of the utilities provided by Symbol/Motorola you should be able to configure them just like any other Windows Mobile device depending on what version of Windows Mobile you have installed and/or if you are using any third party clients such as Juniper/Funk Odyssey client, etc.

We use 802.1x/WPA-TKIP with EAP-PEAP authentication for all our laptops on a Motorola Wireless LAN switches and it was relatively easy to install the private root certificate authority onto the PDA and then configure it with a userID/password.

Good Luck!
