Title: Juniper SRX210 Appliance - First Impressions
Post by: Michael McNamara on December 12, 2009, 11:59:34 AM
We've had two Juniper SRX210 appliances in our testlab for the past couple of weeks. I thought I would make a quick post about my first impressions with the appliance and more so with JUNOS. From a functionality perspective the web interface is very detailed and organized although it's extremely slow which can be just a little frustrating when you are trying to learn your way around the interface for the first time.

I have no experience with JUNOS and I have to admit that I believe it's something I'm going to need to work with and practice at to become comfortable with. I'm really comfortable with Cisco's command line interface as well as Nortel's but JUNOS seems like a complete departure, in my opinion anyway.

The filters and firewall rules appear to be quite extensive, you can organize and group objects into 'zones' and then setup rules based on zones as opposed to individual rules for each and every object.

If anyone has the higher end models I do have a question... is the web interface just as slow in the higher end models?

Cheers!
